FAQ:
Can I wear this during the day?
Anytime you exfoliate (whether it is with a scrub, alpha hydroxy acids, a cleansing brush, etc.) you should be extra diligent about protecting your skin from the sun as you are revealing new skin cells that are more susceptible to damage. We recommend that our Super A Serum be used at night and sunscreen and a hat be used during the day to protect the skin.
Can I use this while pregnant or nursing?
We always recommend contacting your health care provider directly regarding questions about ingredients that can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. That said, this product does contain vitamin A which is the ingredient in our line that is usually advised against during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Can I layer with the AHA Exfoliating Peel?
We normally recommend alternating use of vitamin A (such as retinoids) with alpha hydroxy acids at night rather than layering them as they can over-exfoliate and irritate the skin when used together. Our AHA Exfoliating Peel contains a gentle, yet effective blend of glycolic and lactic acids making it a great option for exfoliation. You can follow with a moisturizer a few minutes later so that the serum has time to fully absorb into the skin.
What are the benefits of this serum?
The Super A Serum is formulated to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, diminish the appearance of age spots and skin discoloration, and improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin.
What is bakuchiol?
Derived from the babchi plant, long used in Ayurvedic & Chinese medicine, bakuchiol is a gentle, yet potent, natural ingredient that works like a retinoid to rejuvenate the skin.
What is the difference between the original Vitamin A Serum and the Super A Serum?
The original Vitamin A Serum formula contained a single retinoid called HPR, while the new Super A Serum contains three bioactive retinoids: HPR, retinol, and retinyl linoleate. We also added bakuchiol, a plant-sourced active that acts like a retinoid and works beautifully alongside the retinoids to deliver marked results to sun-damaged and aging skin.
Is this suitable for sensitive skin?
Because these vitamin A derivatives are potent, we recommend starting with application every other night until skin adjusts to avoid dryness and irritation. If you have highly sensitive or reactive skin, it is best to patch-test to ensure that it works for your skin prior to application.
What is the difference between the Super A Serum and The AHA Exfoliating Peel?
The new Super A Serum contains 3 bioactive retinoids, including HPR. We have also added retinol as well retinyl linoleate along with bakuchiol, a plant-sourced active that acts like a retinoid and works beautifully alongside the retinoids to deliver marked results to sun-damaged and aging skin.
The AHA Exfoliating Peel is a blend of 10% alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic and lactic) and is a must-have for anyone looking to brighten the complexion, and keep pores clear. Alpha hydroxy acids dissolve dead skin cells and keratin that builds up on the surface of the skin, while Gigawhite brightens skin and reduces the appearance of discoloration.
