Sustainable Skincare Routine (Acne Prone+Oily Skin)

The one thing that I will never compromise on is my quality skincare routine. And you shouldn’t either!

At FD Market, we’ve put together bundles to meet your unique skincare needs. Throughout our Natural Sustainable Skincare series, we will cover routines tailored for each skin type, starting with oily, acne-prone skin.

Being an adult and still dealing with pesky breakouts is not fun. After years of researching and trying out countless products and prescription medicines, I’ve finally found the natural skincare routine that works for me to treat oily skin and acne.

My nighttime skincare routine begins with UpCircle’s Cleansing Face Balm. I quite literally daydream about removing my makeup and impurities from my skin at the end of the day. This oil-based balm is unmatched in its ability to do just that. Made from the finely ground powder of discarded apricot stones and Vitamin E, UpCircle’s face balm draws out oil from deep within your pores.

I follow my oil-based cleanser with a water-based cleanser: Butter + Lye’s Charcoal Face Bar. This bar soap with activated coconut charcoal and different natural oils absorbs excess oil from pores and fights acne. Butter + Lye’s gentle formula doesn’t cause that nasty burning sensation and pH disruption that my sensitive skin has experienced with other brands of face soap.

Then, my holy grail of skincare products: Mad Hippie’s Vitamin C Serum. This powerful, soothing antioxidant has changed my life by balancing my skin’s oil production and improving acne- and blemish-induced discoloration. Konjac root softens and smooths skin while sodium ascorbyl and vitamin E reduce the appearance of discoloration.

After letting my serum settle into my skin for a few minutes, I moisturize with UpCircle’s Face Moisturizer. Despite having a thick consistency, the aloe vera, glycerin, and sage oil in this product help to hydrate skin without making it feel greasy and reduce the appearance of blemishes and pores.

Lastly, I finish off my nighttime routine with Mad Hippie’s Blemish Cream. Salicylic Acid (2%) dissolves sebum and oil, while curcumin and arnica reduce irritation and the appearance of skin discoloration. This cream is perfect as a spot treatment for stubborn acne.

Whether you spend 5 minutes or 15 on your skincare routine, this simple, sustainable regimen is perfect for ensuring that your skin gets the love it needs. Everyone should be afforded the luxury of a skincare routine that works
